Overview

EIT Food New Product Development Training ‘NPD Skills’ is a unique series of independent courses, prepared by highly skilled international Partners from different institutions and countries, offering participants, through taking part in various and thematically diverse courses, the opportunity to gain a holistic insight into new product development in food market! Experts from universities, research institutions and industry have made every effort to ensure that participants gain a new perspective on the specific problems discussed and, by acquiring new tools, techniques and practices, gain the ability to develop innovative ideas and then turn them into action! The guiding principle of our Training is therefore learning through experience!

Programme structure

The innovative formula of the Training enables participants to choose which of the thematic courses they wish to attend to gain new knowledge in a specific area of new product development in the food market, as well as develop their unique competencies.
In May 2025 within NPD Skills Training, participants can attend AI for Functional Food Development course.

Live Online Course Outline – May 2025:
AI for Functional Food Development (two mandatory sessions):

  • Part I: 27.05.2025 (9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CEST)
  • Part II: 30.05.2025 (9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CEST)

This course offers a wide range of up-to-date knowledge which, combined with practical examples and a series of exercises, is guaranteed to enhance participants’ skills!

AI for Functional Food Development

The AI for Functional Food Development course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of functional food development, including key concepts, formulation, regulatory compliance and consumer communication. The course integrates scientific principles with industry applications, enabling participants to create innovative food products with health-promoting properties. One of the key aspects of the course is an understanding of the regulatory framework for nutrition and health claims, giving participants the ability to apply them in practice and thus properly reformulate food product compositions and effectively communicate health benefits to consumers. Additionally, during the course, participants will be able to work with a specially developed AI Assistant that will help them create functional foods in practice.
