Overview
EIT Food New Product Development Training ‘NPD Skills’ is a unique series of independent courses, prepared by highly skilled international Partners from different institutions and countries, offering participants, through taking part in various and thematically diverse courses, the opportunity to gain a holistic insight into new product development in food market! Experts from universities, research institutions and industry have made every effort to ensure that participants gain a new perspective on the specific problems discussed and, by acquiring new tools, techniques and practices, gain the ability to develop innovative ideas and then turn them into action! The guiding principle of our Training is therefore learning through experience!

Programme structure
The innovative formula of the Training enables participants to choose which of the thematic courses they wish to attend to gain new knowledge in a specific area of new product development in the food market, as well as develop their unique competencies.
In June 2025, as part of the NPD Skills Training online course offering, participants will be able to take the Food Design, Senses & AI course.
The course will be held on the following dates (with two mandatory sessions):
o Part I 23.06.2025 (9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CEST)
o Part II: 24.06.2025 (9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CEST)
This course offers a wide range of up-to-date knowledge which, combined with practical examples and a series of exercises, is guaranteed to enhance participants’ skills!
Food Design, Senses & AI
The Food Design, Senses & AI course is designed to help participants understand how sensory analysis plays a critical role in food product development. Sensory evaluation allows food scientists and product developers to assess sensory quality of the products to ensure that products meet consumer expectations. This course will provide participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in sensory evaluation.
Participants will learn about sensory attributes and their impact on consumer perception, the different types of sensory tests, and how to interpret sensory data to optimize food formulations. A significant part of the course will focus on how sensory evaluation can be used to improve existing products, develop new packaging and present the product to consumers to meet their expectations.
Additionally, during the course, participants will be able to work with a specially developed AI assistant that, for example, will help them analyse sensory data and help predict consumer acceptance of proposed product attributes.
