ZeroWaste Design: This challenge focusses on reducing food and packaging waste for sustainable supply chains systems.

ZeroWaste Design is tackling one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions in the food system: waste. To reduce waste, food and packaging need to be considered together, and we need new innovative solutions. The specific focus areas of this food solution challenge are:

  • Reduction and/or replacement of food packaging (without creating more food waste)
  • Circular food systems with reduced package and food waste.
  • Better supply chains and re-use structures.

You will tap into design thinking to find new solution for reducing waste, with particular attention to how we transport, package, and store foods and considering food and packaging together. In addition, you will learn how to create a sustainable business case, about entrepreneurship and innovation concepts, and develop skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, technology management, communication, and business basics.

This challenge will happen in the following countries:

  • Denmark – Aarhus University
  • Hungary – Campden BRI
  • Finland – University of Helsinki
  • Italy – University of Turin

Programstruktúra

In March, you will attend the live online kick-off event introducing you to the challenge. After this event, you will be supported in the next steps for problem definition and ideation.

There are five Entrepreneurship and innovation learning blocks spread throughout the programme, each consisting of a live workshop and online self-learning material.

There are 4 pitch sessions between the kick off and final pitch event where you will present your idea so far as a team and receive feedback to help you steer and improve your solution.

Facilitated by your host University, you will be able to access mentoring by industry experts as a team to discuss your ideas and get guidance and insights to help you develop your venture and viable business case.
